Day Care Services

Day Care is an opportunity to overcome social isolation through companionship, friendship and social stimulation or to be cared for in a safe environment as a break from home and a break for informal carers. In all cases general support and assistance is offered.

The service is for older people living alone wishing for companionship, social activities and friendship; and for physically or mentally frail older people who are cared for at home by relatives or friends.

Also a special service for younger people with early onset dementia is available.

Following a referral from a professional worker or a direct approach from an individual or their family or carer, an assessment will be arranged which will enable the most appropriate centre to be considered.

For all who attend there is a warm, comfortable and stimulating atomosphere where activities include:

• Reminiscence sessions
• Visiting speakers
• Day trips
• Refreshment and lunch

Plus much more.

The centres are located in Hazel Grove, Marple and Shaw Heath. There is a daily charge for activities plus a charge for lunch.
