Age Concern Stockport is a local registered charity and all our
efforts and resources are used for the benefit of people within
the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport.
The organisation is a fully independent charity (Charity Number 516912),
and in addition we are full members of the national Age Concern federation.

The aim of Age Concern Stockport is to work throughout the borough to promote health,
independence and choice to enhance quality of lifestyle in later life.

Age Concern Stockport believe that people should:

Age Concern Stockport works to achieve these aims and uphold these
values by providing opportunities and encouragement to people in
later life, and also through the development and delivery of a wide
range of support services and activities, and the provision of
information and advice so people know their options. |

In 1996, in England and Wales, 5,523 people were aged 100 and over. In 2036 it is estimated that there will be 39,000 people in this age group, and, by 2066, 95,000. 3

In STOCKPORT the 2001 census showed a local population of 284,544. Of this 47,000 were over 65 and 78.500 over 55. 4
