Get Involved
The number of opportunities for people to get involved in the planning of local services for older people continues to increase. Some examples are:
- The Age Concern Stockport Advisory Group is an established forum where information can be gained and comments can be made. These will influence the development of Age Concern Stockport locally but also views and comments can be channelled to other local forums or to national Age Concern campaigns.
- There are specific groups, such as the ‘Shadow Local Implementation Team’ that works with local older people to involve them in planning in the Borough.
- The new Older People’s Partnership Board - All Our Tommorrow’s is looking to work with older people's forums across the borough.
- There are many opportunities to be involved with consultations on particular issues. For example, this may include sharing your views on an issue like age discrimination or commenting on a new document that is being produced.
- There are also important every day opportunities in the community to work to help keep community groups and activities fully open and accessible to people as they get older.
