In 2008.....

During 2008 Age Concern Stockport reached out to an increasing number of people in many different ways. For example:  

• 404 people were helped through Ageing Well Counselling and services with quick and effective response times;
• Carers Take a Break service provided 1,350 hours of respite involving 753 home visits; 
• Home After Hospital (HAH) had 595 referrals resulting in 744 home visits plus telephone contact;
• There were 1,850 visits from the Befriending service and 2,533 hours delivered including phone support;
• Supporting Older Adults Project (SOAP) gave over 20 talks and came into contact with approaching 500 people;
• 4,531 people referred to the Handy Help Service resulting in 4,904 jobs being dealt with;
• The Information and Advice Service handled over 9,000 individual queries and cases, including 242 home visits, there were over a quarter of a million pounds of successful benfits claims.
• Well over 1,000 referrals to the Advice, Support & Placement Service
• 1,408 referrals were made resulting in 1,271 home visits for advice, pension and shopping made by Wellcheck.
• 500 new shoppers were registered with Easy Shop;
• Community Support & Involvement worked with 2,240 individuals and 127 groups;
• An additional 9 people were trained to lead Tai Chi and 875 sessions were held;
• 170 Day Care Places a week;
• 660 computer / internet taster sessions were held at a range of venues;
