Peer SupportAs Peer Support Facilitator my role is to help people with dementia and their carers support each other. This support can come in shape of group activities or can be putting people in similar situations together. Not everyone wants group activities so we can put people in touch with each other through telephone contact, some people face to face or it may be contact through email. To sum up my role is to find practical solutions to enable peoples to support each other.
Andy Graham Peer Support Facilitator.

IMPORTANT NEWS Age UK Launch StatementStatement from Age Concern Stockport
Monday 19th April 2010 sees the formal launch of Age UK – the new national charity combining Age Concern England and Help the Aged.
Age Concern Stockport will continue as an independent charity working with and for older people in Stockport. However we benefit from a close relationship with Age UK and we are currently discussing with them their offer to us of a brand partnership. That is sharing the name and quality standards whilst remaining local and independent.
We may decide to change our name to Age UK Stockport over the next few months. However if we do we will remain a local and independent charity providing many great services and working together in many positive partnerships locally.
The Trustees of Age Concern Stockport will consider all the details and implications of the brand partnership offer. They have already consulted with staff and other internal stakeholders and will be consulting with members at 12 noon on 1st June at the Pop In. Any external stakeholders are also welcome to attend this meeting (booking required).
If we decide to enter into a new brand partnership with Age UK it will be because we think that, whilst remaining independent, our future and all importantly that of older people in Stockport will benefit by also having these strong national links.
Any questions or for booking to the June meeting please contact Margaret Brade directly
